Jaco beach has been changing very fast, it is incredible all the new things you can see, a new construction appears every morning!! Amazing huh!!!!

I remember that 6 or 7 years ago the tallest building in Jaco, was the Bavaria Tower (I think thats the name for it), anyway now we have condos everywhere...

It used to be very nice having GREEN everywhere, but........ the Town has to grow.

Writing this message has giving me a great idea! I will see if I can start publishing the town story, having the information directly from people like my grandfather and other real native Jacobeños, those who came when Jaco was the real JUNGLE!!!

Here's a picture I took (or Dunia took, can't remember... wait maybe that's why it's blurry!) of Jaco from the highway on the road to Hermosa on Dec 28th 2009 - the first photo I think was taken from up higher on the mountain?



Definitely interesting to compare, considering those highrises only went up in the last 2-3 years...

But hey, Jaco is poised to be the Miami of Central America, so why not? There are tons of still natural settings the farther south down the beach you go - Esterillos for example?

Wonder if anyone else has any older pictures, like maybe when the public school was still beachfront?

When my grandfather came to town many years ago, he used to hang out some Rotulos aoruind the beach with this saying " Visite Playa Jaco, el futuro Miami de Costa Rica"... People used to think or maybe they still do that he was CRAZY, but now we can see he wasn´t that crazy!!!

I do have some family pics somewhere in my house, I´ll look for them and post them..

Did you find any more of those photos? I think we should put up a photo gallery and write a short story / history on Jaco? I think it would be cool!
