Just a heads up, Esterillos Oeste will be holding it's second annual Mardi Gras on February 13th, 2010...

Esterillos Oeste is about 20 minutes from Jaco on the road towards Parrita/Quepos. The event is a fundraiser for the local schools and last years was supposedly quite a bit of fun!

Did you find any more of those photos? I think we should put up a photo gallery and write a short story / history on Jaco? I think it would be cool!

For those that don't know, Palo Seco is a beach that is about 30 minutes south of Jaco Beach (towards Hermosa Beach and Quepos) and is located right before the town of Parrita.

From what I have heard, the CNS is expecting a good turnout for this tournament and there is supposed to be all the necessary services on site and ample parking. If you're in town and like surf, definitely go check it out, Palo Seco is a beautiful and mostly untouched beach that you will surely not be disappointed in seeing!

Thanks for the compliments! Working hard to get things in order in a way that makes sense and is most usable for the community... There are a few bugs on the site, like that in the classified ads when you submit a new ad you can't use anything but numbers in number fields (no punctuation or spaces, so no 2643-1234 for a phone number, has to be 26431234 for ex.) but they will get ironed out in time.

As long as our visitors have faith in the site, it will continue to grow exponentially over time and as I'm planning it should become the defacto goto site for info on Jaco and the area!

Let me know if you find anything else wrong or weird or if you have any suggestions or ideas for the site. There's still lots to implement and organize and it really helps to have a third party user's experience come into play. Help keep the forum and site active and it will continue to grow with everyone's help, definitely can't do it alone!

Here's a picture I took (or Dunia took, can't remember... wait maybe that's why it's blurry!) of Jaco from the highway on the road to Hermosa on Dec 28th 2009 - the first photo I think was taken from up higher on the mountain?



Definitely interesting to compare, considering those highrises only went up in the last 2-3 years...

But hey, Jaco is poised to be the Miami of Central America, so why not? There are tons of still natural settings the farther south down the beach you go - Esterillos for example?

Wonder if anyone else has any older pictures, like maybe when the public school was still beachfront?
